Meek Mill and Philadelphia pastor Rev. Jomo K. Johnson, who is waging a boycott against the rapper, went toe-to-toe on Wednesday (July 11) in a volatile interview on Philadelphia’sHot 107.9 radio station. Meek addressed Johnson's accusations that he is a negative, blasphemous role model in what turned into a heated exchange.
“This looking like you trying to get famous, or you need some attention, because you could have came to me and said anything you wanted to say,” Meek said. “I might've helped you. If you needed money for your church or whatever I might've woulda gave you that money. I might've even remixed the song ["Amen"] with Kirk Franklin or anything you wanted to do. You went about it... like you looking for attention and fame.”
Johnson responded, “My plea to you is to turn from sin, turn from blasphemy, turn from unrighteousness, that you’re purporting in your music—turn to Jesus Christ and receive eternal life. It doesn’t matter how much money you get, without Jesus Christ you will be lost eternally.” The pastor went on to say that he wanted to see Meek saved and he himself did four years in jail and God changed his life.
The two continued to go back and forth. Meek blasted Johnson for having a worse criminal record than he has and got audibly angry about why his charity work in the community doesn't get the proper attention. “Where was you at?” screamed Meek and then cited how his 80-year-old grandmother is religious and has no problems with the song. “He can't judge me!" yelled Meek. "When you blast Jesus Christ...I have the right to say it's wrong," said Johnson. The lengthy argument continued on without conclusion.
RapFix reported yesterday that Johnson has urged fans to boycott Meek over, among other things, what he deems the blasphemous song "Amen." The number featuring Drake has heavy sexual overtones and uses religions themes and soundscapes. Johnson first called for a boycott of Meek on his blog, Deadestrapperalive.com and he has self-published a book on the subject called "No Amen: Why Boycotting Meek Mill Will Help Save Hip Hop."
Downtown Los Angeles- Demonstrators threw rocks and bottles at LAPD officers as police and protesters squared off late Thursday night. One officer was injured.
The confrontation between LAPD officers and a group of people in downtown Los Angeles during the monthly ArtWalk apparently grew into an uproar, from the original planned event which included drawing pictures with sidewalk chalk, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Protestors allied with the Occupy LA movement chanting, "Whose Streets? Our Streets!" and yelling expletives about police, according to witnesses. Drawings of pigs with words "Kill Cops" were written on the ground.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A stranger stepped in to save two kids who were locked in a car when it suddenly shifted into gear and rolled toward a busy street.
It happened Saturday night at a gas station off Edith Blvd.
Lezlie Bicknell and her husband had just pulled up when she noticed something terribly wrong in the van parked one spot over.
"There was a small child in the driver's seat. She seemed to be alone. I literally watched her shift it into gear. I knew what was going to happen," Bicknell said.
Bicknell jumped out of her truck and tried to jump into the van as it started to roll away. She pounded on the van windows as the two children yelled from the inside, and then she was shocked to see her own car rolling towards her.
"I must've knocked my own car in gear jumping out. I left the door wide open.
Bicknell jumped out of the way. In a twist of fate, the Bicknell's pickup actually ended up behind the van, stopping it before it slid into the street.
"I am glad that the kids are OK. The mother thanked me and hugged me," Bicknell said.
The parents of the children in the van were inside the convenience store during the incident.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
A newstation captured a burst of violence inside a Florida courthouse when the victims' family and the suspect's family broke out in an all out brawl earlier today. The hearing for Jason Clair, who is accused of shooting and killing James and Joel Kun outside of a St Cloud night club last year, was cancelled - leaving the families to linger in the hallway. Two men, Clair's stepfather and the Kuns' father, began throwing fists when one said to the other 'You got something to say to me?'
In the video, the families try to break up the fight, but the two men knock each other over and pummel one another. Two police officers manage to break up the fight in under a minute, shouting 'I'm going to tase you! I'm going to tase you!' The fighters are eventually handcuffed and one is hauled away on a stretcher.
'He hit me first, what was I supposed to do? That shows how p***y they are. Just like their sons, ganging up on me,' Jason Clair's stepfather, James Barker, can be heard saying. By the end of the video, a woman is heard weeping. Relatives on both sides of the case had shown up as witnesses, but the tension proved to be too much for them.
'Obviously, emotions ran high,' St Cloud Detective Christian Anderson told WFTV. 'I stepped in to intervene, just based on the hostile actions, and while trying to stop it, I ended up getting struck in the back of the head.' He added that after 17 years on the job, he had never seen a fight quite like this one. James Barker and James Kun Sr, were taken away in handcuffs on misdemeanor charges of being involved in a fight. One of the Kun brothers' friends, Jeremy Milyon, left the courthouse on a stretcher with a possible broken jaw. He was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.
The Clair case is the latest trial having to do with Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground law. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Clair was one of numerous patrons to attend a 25-cent beer night on June 28, 2011, at Len'z Dug Out Pub. Clair got into an argument with James Kun, 23, and Joel Kun, 21, that ended when bar workers forced Clair into the parking lot.
The Kun brothers then went outside and another fight broke out between the men. Clair, apparently beaten by the brothers, left in his car for 20 minutes. When he returned to the parking lot, the three men got into a third fight only this time, Clair grabbed a gun from his car and opened fire on the men. Witnesses told police that they saw Clair stand over the mortally wounded brother and fired repeatedly at their bodies. 'After Joel and James fell to the ground Jason told (their mother, April Kun), "I'll ...shoot you, too..,"' the police report, obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, states. Bar patrons then disarmed Clair and beat him so severely he was nearly unrecognizable in his mugshot. He was charged with two counts of first degree murder. Clair, a Walt Disney World employee, and his attorney have cited Florida's Stand Your Ground law as his defense.

President Obama saysit's time the USA ended tax cuts benefiting richer Americans, but asked Congress to extend for a further year cuts benefiting those earning less than $250,000.
Republicans say removing the tax cuts for the wealthy will harm job creation by small business owners, but the Obama camp is countering with the claim that 97% of the owners of such enterprises woulld fall into the sub-$250,000 tax bracket.
Both candidates for the 2012 US election are currently vying to present themselves as the most friendly to middle-class voters.
According to the Huffington Post, here is what Matthew Knowles had to say:
"We still have our joint venture with Sony, and in November, we're putting out two Destiny's Child catalog records with new material. So we're going to start doing strategic things like that."
Knowles also hinted about the possibility of a DC3 reunion tour, but admitted that would depend on whether it would fit in with the artists' repective solo careers.
"It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it starts with the artist wanting to do it. And I think the ladies are still working happily in their solo careers," he explained, adding. "And I hope in the next five years that there is a reunion tour. I think it would be incredible."
And according to Matthew, getting the girls to devote time to the Destiny's Child tour wouldn't be the hardest task, but something else would.
"The hardest thing would be choosing which songs they're going to do, because we would ant to mix it up with solo hits and Destiny's Childs hits. We would have to throw away some #1's from off the list," Knowles said.
The last time Destiny's Child preformed together was at the NBA All Star Games in 2006, before pursuing solo projects.
Iam so excited about this! I hope they decide to do it!!

The Food and Drug Administration approved a new H.I.V. test on Tuesday, that for the first time makes it possible for Americans to learn in the privacy of their homes whether they are infected.
The availability of an H.I.V. test as easy to use as a home- pregnancy kit is yet another step in the normalization of a disease that was once seen as a mark of shame and a death sentence.
The OraQuick test, by OraSure Technologies, uses a mouth swab and gives results in 20 to 40 minutes. A previous test sold over the counter required a user to prick a finger and mail a drop of dried blood to a lab.

San Diego County's biggest fireworks show was over in a matter of seconds, after a technical problem caused all the fireworks to go off at once.
Thousands of spectators had gathered at beaches, parks, and scenic look-outs to get a view of San Diego's 12th annual "Big Bay Boom" show. Some people even camped out for hours to see the fireworks, only to be left disappointed and in the dark.
Producers promised a 20 minute show, including fireworks from four barges strategically located around San Diego Bay, including Shelter Island, Harbour Island, the North Embarcadero and Embarcadero Marina Park South. The sow was also suppose to have fireworks at the Imperial Beach Pier.
Instead, crowds were left wondering what happened after large explosions lit up the sky for about 30 seconds before fizzing out.
Organizers said, Wednesday night that they were still investigating the cause, only citing a "technical glitch" for bringing the big show to a premature halt.
